      Coordinating Outfits for Family Photos

      UPDATED MAY 9, 2019

If you are looking for coordinating outfits for summer family photos, I think you will love this outfit. The turquoise and tan color scheme has such a peaceful vibe to it and is so versatile! While the wardrobe pieces above are perfect for a summer photo session, the colors themselves could also work well for spring family picture outfits. And I love the combination of turquoise and tan against Northeast Ohio’s yellow fall leaves, making it a perfect color scheme for fall family outfits as well.

This week our family photo fashion tip for coordinating outfits is all about layers. Layers really help to add visual interest and depth to an outfit. It can be the thing that takes your outfit from ‘nice’ to ‘wow’ without much effort. An easy way to incorporate layers is by adding a blazer or scarf. But in warmer months, that just doesn’t work and we have to get a little more creative.

Take a peak at mom’s top above. The sheer fabric creates layers as it is gathered at the waist and hangs in a purposefully uneven hem. In this case, the top she chose incorporated light and summery layers without needing to add anything else to the outfit. Perfect!

Fashion tip: Adding layers and texture help create visual interest in your portraits. In warm summer months, look for wardrobe pieces that are designed with light layers for texture rather than adding blazers or jackets that are more suited for cooler months.
